Here is the last list of duplicate books from the DLS library for the time being.  These are all hefty books filled with lots of lace history and information!  Let me know if you are interested in any of them, and I will hold them for you. Any leftovers will be auctioned off at the DLS Christmas Party.

   4. Lace and Lacemaking, by Alice-May Bullock. 1981 hardback, 160 pp. A detailed and thoroughly researched history of Lace from early beginnings to the nineteenth century. (suggested donation $8)

   5. The Technique of Bloemwork, by Vera Cockuyt. 1982 paperback with plastic comb binding. Instructions for working through nine techniques of Bloemwork lace. Large, easy-to-follow drawings and diagrams. Includes second section with Bloemwork patterns. (suggested donation $7)

A Manual of Hand-Made Bobbin Lace Work, by Margaret Maidment. 1983 hardback, 184 pp. First published in 1931, this manual includes history, materials methods and stitches of lacemaking.  Separate chapters on Torchon, Cluny, Beds-Maltese, Honiton and Bucks Point Ground laces. Tebbs’ Art of Bobbin Lace: Reprint Including Supplement, by Louisa A. Tebbs. 1978 hardback, 184 pp. Originally published in 1907.  Photographs and directions for making many types of Italian bobbin lace and Honiton applique. Folded patterns for several of the designs included in back pocket. (suggested donation $10)

100 Traditional Bobbin Lace Patterns, by Geraldine Stott & Bridget Cook. 1993 paperback, 126 pp. Color-coded diagrams for 100 traditional Bucks Point lace patterns. (suggested donation $8)

Library Notes; January 2014
Debbie Stone generously donated 15 books to Dallas Lace Society.  Five were already in our library and were used for raffle prizes at the Christmas party thus increasing the money raised by the raffle.  The other ten are now available for loan from Dallas Lace Society’s library.

  • 302 Designing for Bruges Flower Lace, Edna Sutton, English, 1987, 126 pages.  This book was written the year of Halley’s Comet’s appearance, and the patterns are named after stars, planets and constellations extracted from astronomical references.  Modern colored threads have been used to work selected pieces of lace.  Instruction on designing Bruges Flower lace, patterns and prickings.

We have had some very generous book donations from two of our members the past few months.  Thank you to Pat and Pat.  Several of the books were duplicates or triplicates to our library holdings so we decided to hold those copies until the Christmas party.  They will be part of the raffle offerings.  Check your personal library so you will be ready to drop your ticket in the cup of the books that you need.
